Leadership is not one single style. It is a living field of tendencies, strengths, dilemmas, shadows, and choices. The EPIC™ Leadership Program by Zensei® invites leaders to explore their inner leadership landscape through the powerful archetypes of the Pāṇdava Princes from the Mahabharata.

Each Pāṇdava prince represents a distinct leadership propensity: wisdom, strength, excellence, beauty, discernment, devotion, courage, strategy, and inner conflict. Through reflective inquiry, dialogue, embodied practices, and archetypal exploration, this program helps you understand how these forces live within you as a leader.

This offering is part of the EPIC™ Leadership suite of programs from Zensei Leadership which offer deeply self-reflective spaces for personal transformation.

Why EPIC™?

The Mahabharata is an epic or purāṇa. A purāṇa means 'pura api navam', i.e., that which is ancient yet new. What makes the characters in Mahābhārata heroic, is the way they responded to the extraordinary dilemmas they carried within themselves. A reader who engages self-reflectively with this text today is able to connect to the play of these ancient archetypal energies in the contemporary context.

EPIC™ is also the name of the facilitation approach developed and practiced at Zensei. It represents the four movements through which meaningful leadership learning unfolds:

E — Evoke
Leadership begins by bringing to awareness what is already present within us—our strengths, longings, assumptions, questions, and lived experiences.

P — Provoke
Growth requires disturbance. Through stories, dialogue, archetypes, and reflective inquiry, we gently challenge familiar patterns, opening new possibilities for seeing and acting.

I — Invoke
As old certainties loosen, deeper capacities emerge. We intentionally invite wisdom, courage, discernment, compassion, and the many archetypal qualities that support dharmic leadership.

C — Contemplate
Insight becomes transformation only through reflection. We create space to integrate experience, connect it with one's own life and work, and translate learning into conscious action.

This four-fold movement, viz., Evoke. Provoke. Invoke. Contemplate., forms the heart of every Zensei® learning experience.

Acknowledgment & Gratitude

I gratefully acknowledge the many streams of learning that have inspired the development of EPIC™ Leadership.

My earliest foundations were shaped during my childhood and teenage years by the āchāryas of Chinmaya Mission, whose teachings brought the Indian epics and philosophical traditions alive as pathways for reflection and inquiry.

Over the years, this foundation has been deepened by my learning with Prof. Indira J. Parikh, Sri Sushanta Banerjee, and Sri Raghu Ananthanarayanan, whose pioneering work has brought Indian wisdom traditions into conversation with organisational development, leadership, and process work.

EPIC™ Leadership brings these influences into dialogue with my own practice and learning across Somatic Experiencing®, LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®, and the Flow Game®, integrating diverse streams of inquiry into an experiential approach to leadership, self-awareness, and dharma.

I offer this work with deep gratitude to the teachers, mentors, traditions, and communities of practice that continue to shape my learning.
